My name is Christopher Maboe. I am raising money for Maxwell Wells. Maxwell is 26 years old and has cerebral palsy and is currently dealing with multiple health issues and life challenges. His grandparents, Hope and Brian Ryan Mcleaf, are his legal guardians and up until just a few months ago have cared for Maxwell and provided the services of getting him to and from doctor's appointments and taking him out to do extracurricular activities for most of his life. Hope and Brian are both really great people and they both love and care for Maxwell genuinely and very deeply, and I've seen this personally with my own two eyes. However, due to his grandparents' age and their own challenges in life, and also due to the tremendous amount of medical care and attention that Maxwell requires, Hope and Brian had to finally submit to the fact that Maxwell may need more attention than they could continue to offer. This was not an easy decision for either of them or for the rest of Maxwell's family because he has been at home being cared for most of his life.
Maxwell now resides in the Margaret Moul home for cerebral palsy patients. This is a great facility with great staff, and the people who work there are very genuine and do their jobs with care! Maxwell's grandparents, Hope and Brian, along with Maxwell's extended family, still continue to come into the Margaret Moul hospital every day several times a day to take Maxwell out to do extracurricular activities and to also make sure that Maxwell has family around him and is being attended to. I visit Maxwell often at this facility and 99% of the time when I show up to see him, Hope and Brian are there with him. Maxwell is a wonderful person with a really good heart and a beautiful soul! Hope and Brian take him out to baseball games and bowling every week. This requires them to have a van with a handicap lift and also to sacrifice their free time to make sure that Maxwell has an active life!
I don't like to ask people for financial support and Hope and Brian have never asked me to do this, so please don't think that I'm doing this on their behalf. I'm doing this for Maxwell. There are a lot of things that the state does not provide for Max that would help to make his life more comfortable and even more enjoyable. The lift in Brian and Hope's handicap van is currently very old and breaks down on them often, which causes Brian to have to work on it himself, and he does this diligently to make sure that they can pick Max up and take him out to do things that he likes to do. Maxwell's hips are out of joint and he cannot sit up completely upright. He is stuck in a hunched-over position with his knees pressed together and cannot move from this position.
I feel like I'm rambling, so I'm going to end this description of Max's life by saying this: there are multiple things that I can tell you that Max needs to make his life more peaceful and easier to live, and I'm setting up this GoFundMe to try and help make that possible for him and also so that possibly Max might be able to go on special trips and events that the state can't provide for him, and that his family can't afford to do with him! I am personally involved in this young man's life, and he has touched my heart in a tremendous way. He puts a smile on my face every time I see him, even when he's in agonizing pain. Even when he's going through the worst moments of his life, he still brings joy to me and helps me to understand how precious and blessed my life is!
I truly hope that if you read this, you take part in this event. I am planning a fundraiser in July for Maxwell as well, which will include a motorcycle ride and also a live music, food, and good vibes event , but for right now, I just hope that you read this and understand that this could help benefit someone's life who needs it very much tremendously! If you've read all the way through this, thank you very much for your time. I appreciate you all and I wish you all the best. Please keep Max and his family in your prayers.
