Hello all! My name is Nikki and I am reaching out on behalf of my client-turned-good-friend Kathlena. Some of you may know her better as The Allergy Chef.
Kathlena is one of the most kind hearted people that I know. She has made it her life's mission to help people, specifically those with food allergies, thrive. She gives 110% of herself every single day to do so.
If you are stumbling across this page, let me tell you a little bit about her. Kathlena was give just 30 days to live before receiving her complex medical diagnosis, which revolves heavily around her 200+ food allergies. Not only has she overcome that death sentence, she is thriving years later.
Her experience has driven her to create materials to help the food restricted community in any way possible to help others live their best lives without fear of their restrictions.
Now, it's our turn to help her. Kathlena escaped an abusive situation and was fortunate to find a home that she was able to rent that she did not react to (remember, 200+ allergies!). However, due to her disabilities, she is unable to work an in person job as even going grocery shopping requires the use of a face respirator and she is unable to tolerate wearing one for the extended amount of a time an in person job would require.
Because she is mentally and otherwise physically capable of work, she does not qualify for disability help. Despite applying to remote positions for well over a year, she is still without a sustainable job to support her during today's economic climate.
This has put her in a position of homelessness and she is currently living out of her vehicle. While being homeless is not ideal for anyone, Kathlena's airborne allergies makes it even more difficult. She is unable to utilize shelters, foodbanks, or other resources.
Bottom line, it's our turn to help her. Kathlena does not ask for help lightly and it she was reluctant to agree to me setting up this GoFundMe, but she has agreed that this is the time to ask for help.
If you are able to donate even $5-10, that would make a difference. If you can't donate, sharing this page would mean the world to her.
I know people don't always love this site and it's tough to just donate, so I am reminding people that Kathlena does have a website with services and products that are available for purchase. If you don't want to donate to this fund directly but want to help her, spreading the word or purchasing from her site, www.theallergychef.com, would also help. Even if it's a gift for someone else!
Or, if you know of a remote position that would consider her application, that would help greatly as well. I am including images of her skills and the offerings she currently has so you know what to look for.
I know this was a lengthy read so if you've made it this far, thank you! Let's help this amazing woman get back into a safe home.
Thank you,
Nikki
