About Us
We are Elemental Explorers (ElemX), a student-run organization that aims to provide free STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) opportunities for young students through engaging hands-on activities. Our mission is to inspire the next generation of innovators, problem-solvers, and leaders, making STEM education accessible to all, regardless of their socioeconomic status.
The Need
STEM education is crucial for preparing students for the future, fostering critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration. However, many young students lack opportunities of exposure to STEM due to financial constraints or simply an absence of strong STEM curricula in their schools. This is where we step in, offering free programs designed to spark curiosity and ignite a passion for STEM.
Our Programs
Our hands-on activities are organized to provide fundamental concepts in all STEM-related areas with a focus on chemistry, physics, and engineering.
Our experiments and activities include:
- Ice Cream In A Bag - colligative properties
- Lemon Volcanoes - gas forming chemical reactions
- DIY Molecular Models - molecular structure
- Elephant Toothpaste - catalase and reactions
- Magnetic Slime - magnetism
- Magic Milk - molecular attraction
- Lava Lamp - molecular density
- DIY Robotic Hand - human anatomy
- Lemon Battery - electricity and electrolysis
Our programs contain not only activities, but we engage high school volunteers who make presentations and teach lessons that align with the experiments. These enthusiastic young mentors serve as role models, sharing their knowledge and experiences to inspire and guide younger students.
