Hi, my name is Matthew Beaulieu. I am 37 years old and was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2014. I have the most progressive type of MS; therefore, I have been wheelchair and homebound for 4 years.
I am currently receiving physical therapy 1-2 times per week, which is very important for maintaining my strength and mobility. Since starting PT, I have made some significant gains, which are moving me toward my goal of walking once again!
Sadly, there is a very strong possibility that I will soon be losing my physical therapy services due to insurance regulations.
If I lose my physical therapy, I am very concerned that my health will diminish quickly and I will lose even more of my independence.
I currently use a "Nustep" machine at PT that has helped me tremendously. I am trying to purchase such a machine so that I can use it at home when PT is not available to me. The Nustep specifically targets the muscles and motions necessary to walk. I have tried other grants and tried to finance with no luck as this is impossible on my meager monthly income from disability.
If you could help me reach my goal towards the "Nustep" purchase of this awesome machine, I would be extremely grateful. Although I will use what I receive to purchase alternative therapeutic equipment if my goal is not reached, I am convinced this Nustep machine would give me the greatest benefit.
