My name is Zenia Ridley and I have an amazing former student, Jeremiah McGee-Ferguson, that needs help getting a car.
To give you a little history, I never taught Jeremiah. He is one of those students that just became one of my babies. He was not the best student in high school, but he did his best and he graduated.
Another former student, Zachary Labbe, reached out to me about the San Jacinto College Process Technology Program. He loved the program and wanted to come to the school to get others interested. I suggested telling Jeremiah as I knew this would be good for him. Zach expressed that Jeremiah did not have a car. I said, "Go pick him up." Zach said, "I'm at school 12 hours a day," and I said, "Okay, Jeremiah will be there 12 hours a day."
Zach reached out and Jeremiah enrolled and is excelling in the program, and he rides with Zach every day. He is doing so well that he was voted as a class officer for the Fall Semester next school year. This position will require him to need a car to attend the many different volunteer opportunities that he will be involved in as an officer, as he and Zach's schedules will be different.
I am reaching out to the community to pull together to help this young man continue to be successful by raising money to get him a cash car to be able to continue to participate in his school activities. To see him excelling in this program when many thought that he would just drift around is an amazing thing to see. The shine in his eyes when he talks about his experience and is able to teach others is enough for me to reach out to seek help for this young man. I am excited to see him continue to flourish and graduate from the program.
