About me:
Hi, I’m Anish (Anish Poosa), a junior at Enloe Magnet High School and a dual-enrolled student at Wake Technical Community College, At Enloe, I pursue a rigorous academic track including Advanced Placement, Honors, and STEM-focused coursework as a proud member of the Medical Bioscience Academy (MBSA). Beyond the classroom, I am deeply passionate about biomedical research, especially in the field of neurodegenerative diseases. I currently conduct Alzheimer’s disease research under the mentorship of a professor at the University of Southern California, with my findings pending submission to a leading scientific journal.

With this background, I’m reaching out today to launch a campaign in support of the Dementia Alliance of North Carolina, a nonprofit organization that provides critical care, resources, and support to individuals and families impacted by dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. Through this campaign, I am raising funds to ensure that these families have the assistance they need during one of the most challenging times in their lives.

Alzheimer’s and dementia don’t just affect the individuals diagnosed; they have a profound impact on their families and communities. I’ve seen firsthand how these conditions take a toll on both the person with the disease and their loved ones, who often feel overwhelmed and helpless. Families face emotional, financial, and physical strain as they provide care, yet many feel isolated and unsupported. That’s where organizations like Dementia Alliance of North Carolina come in, offering vital services like advocacy, support groups, educational programs, and direct care resources to help families cope and navigate this difficult journey.

This campaign is not only about raising funds—it’s about showing that we can make a difference. Every donation will go directly to the Dementia Alliance to fund their critical programs, providing much-needed support to those living with dementia. Your contribution will help these families stay informed, empowered, and connected with others who understand their struggles. It’s a small step for us, but it will make a world of difference for those in need.

Why This Matters to Me

As I prepare for college, I’m deeply committed to giving back to the community and focusing on causes that matter to me. Dementia has become an issue that I am deeply passionate about because I believe no one should have to face these challenges alone. My academic journey and research in Alzheimer’s disease have only deepened my commitment to finding solutions and supporting those affected.

This campaign is not only a way for me to help but also an opportunity to demonstrate my dedication to social change, research, and advocacy—qualities I hope to bring with me as I continue my education and life’s work. It reflects my belief in the importance of service, community, and compassion—values I plan to carry forward in my college career and beyond.

This campaign is a pivotal part of my journey. It’s about making a real impact, not just for today, but for tomorrow as well. I’m eager to use this project as an opportunity to show my future college admissions team that I am committed to making a difference and that I’m ready to contribute to the world in meaningful ways.
