Camryn is the 14-year-old daughter of one of my best friends, Lara Wilson. I met Lara and her family back in 2013 at a Mothers of PreSchoolers group (MOPS) when Camryn was just 3 years old. A delightful and caring child with unusual empathy for others, Camryn has sadly suffered from severe anxiety for the last 3+ years. This current school year Camryn is a freshman in high school and her anxiety has reached a crisis point. Camryn experiences panic attacks that interfere with her ability to attend school. She needs a strong calming presence beside her constantly in order to prevent spiraling into panic. Camryn’s treatment team has determined that she needs a specially-trained ADA Service Dog who will accompany her everywhere and serve as not only a calming presence to ease anxiety, but also a trained aid to detect and interrupt oncoming panic attacks. Camryn strongly believes that a Service Dog will give her the confidence and support she needs to get back to school and move forward with her education and her life. She dreams of going to college and becoming either an elementary school teacher or a private investigator! The family has identified trained and in-training service dogs from reputable organizations that would be a good match for Camryn and are available to bring home in the next 90 days. However training such specialized dogs is a long and expensive process, and we need your help making Camryn’s Service Dog a reality. Thank you for your support!
