Check for a Lump AZ

Tax deductible
It was back in March when I first learned about Check for a Lump AZ and when I first met Anita. She was in a Zoom class I was participating in with Valenti Lingua to study Italian. Anita was quiet, articulate, smart, an almost polyglot speaking Spanish, Italian, and soon to learn French. I was so impressed with Anita’s language abilities, her calm demeanor, and her acceptance of error. In a breakout room during one class session, Anita shared her story. She had been diagnosed with breast cancer at just 27 years old — and just a few months before her wedding. She endured doctor's appointments, scans, medication, and a double mastectomy. She and her fiancé postponed their wedding to focus on Anita's health. That's a journey that many of us can't imagine. It's one we don't want to imagine.

Anita told me about Check for a Lump AZ, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing services for survivors like Anita who need help with scans, wigs, and, most importantly, support. That's the genesis of this fundraiser.

A few weeks ago, my friend Anita got married. Now, she's off on her honeymoon — in Italy, of course. I hope she's laughing, dancing, and ordering plate after plate of pasta. I pray for her continued health and peace and all the joy that being young should bring.

If Anita's story moves you as it did me, Please join me and my friends at Onyx Boxing and consider a tax-free donation to Check for a Lump AZ to help others like Anita continue to follow their dreams.
