Last year, I had plans to move, get my husband a car, expand my work as a musician, support the local LGBTQ+ community more, maybe travel and see my family some more...
...But then a hysterectomy set me back from all of that. And then the one car we had between us broke down. And all this is happening just before we lose our health insurance.
It's taking me everything to reach out like this. Before the end of the year, I'm faced with needing resources to finish out my choir seasons with the three different groups I direct, and that means a healthy car for me ($1000).
[UPDATE!!!] Fortunately, our first generous donors helped us to meet this most urgent goal in just 24 hours, and for that I am exceedingly grateful! We are firmly on the path to having my husband freed up with his own car ($5000).
We both still need to be freed up from medical expenses, so that we can go into the new year with confidence and get back onto a footing where we can move into a better home and find better health insurance ($10,000).
I want to be able to show up as my best self for the communities I work with, who for years have relied on me to model the inspiration and dedication the world needs from all of us.
I've never made this kind of ask before. But the moment is calling for me to do so, because we need help to get through this challenge, and we can't face it on our own.
Thank you.
Ames
