My sister Emma was recently diagnosed with thyroid cancer. Due to a misdiagnosis in 2019, she's now had this cancer for 6 years. As a result, the cancer has spread. This means she has to undergo major surgery to remove her thyroid and multiple lymph nodes in her neck and chest. She will also have to be treated with radioactive iodine (a type of radiation for this particular cancer) to destroy inoperable cancer cells.
My sister is self-employed as a personal care attendant, and due to the physical nature of this work, she will be unable to work for 6 weeks or more during her recovery. Her insurance plan is through the Affordable Care Act, leaving her with out-of-pocket expenses. I am reaching out to the community at large to help her during this time. If you are able, please donate whatever you feel you can to support my sister during this incredibly challenging time. Anything is greatly appreciated.
