Hi, my name is Emma, and this is not something I ever imagined myself writing. Almost three years ago, I was in a car accident that left me with two herniated discs. For a while I managed, but a few months ago one of the discs broke down further and completely compromised a nerve in my back. The pain became unbearable with numbness in half my left leg, burning up and down my leg, and constant back spasms. Surgery quickly became urgent and unavoidable. I have now had that surgery and am in recovery, doing my best to heal.
Everything happened in such a short amount of time and the medical expenses piled up faster than I could keep up with. Between scans, medications, co-pays, procedures, surgery, and now recovery, the bills have become overwhelming, especially with no paid medical leave from work.
Before all of this, I lived for singing, dancing, and performing. It was not just my passion, it was my work. I loved being active and outdoors, but pain took those joys away from me. My hope now is that recovery will give me the chance to return to those things and live without constant pain.
Putting this together has been humbling for me and asking for help is not easy, but I cannot do this on my own. Donations will go directly toward covering my medical bills, medications, and recovery expenses. Any support, whether it is donating, sharing, or simply sending good thoughts, means the world to me. Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for helping me through this.
