Hey guys!! I’m Emily and I'm so excited to be starting this journey and sharing it with y’all! Cats have always been a part of my life, and I have wanted to get involved in fostering/rescuing for many years but never knew how. After a lot of research, some entrepreneurial classes, and many talks with many people, I have decided for me, a Cat Cafe is the best way for me to do so! Cat cafes became popular in Japan after the first one called Cat Flower Garden opened in Taiwan (1998) and became a very popular tourist attraction. Eventually, we adopted the idea in the US, the first one opening in 2014 called Cat Town Cafe in Oakland, CA. There are somewhere around 230 cat cafes in the US now, and each one offers a unique experience. Our goal specifically is to work with local rescues; we will be "fostering" the cats with the exception of a few permanent residents. This will provide relief to local shelters and rescues while providing a fun place for customers to come hang out with the cats and possibly find furever friends! When we open, you will be able to come in through the cafe and proceed to the cat room after you order/pay. We want to offer a calm, cozy place where you can come and work, do homework, or just relax after a long day. The menu, while not 100% nailed down, will include Boba, Lattes, Refreshers, etc., and I would love to feature snacks and cakes from local businesses! With all that said, I am coming to the community for help to get this dream up and going faster than I am able to alone! It doesn't have to be much, but every dollar counts! Thank you so, so much!
