El-Roi Jireh is a non-profit dedicated to supporting survivors of domestic violence and single mothers in need. We provide gently used clothing, shoes and household items; groceries; referrals to critical resources; and accompaniment for women to court if they need to file restraining orders. Our mission is simple: to bring hope, dignity and stability to families who are rebuilding their lives after abuse. We lovingly call our community of donors "angels of hope" because their generosity directly helps survivors to find strength and to heal. As a registered non-profit, your donation is deductible, and a tax receipt can be provided to you upon request.

My Story

My name is Ana Fuentes and I am a domestic violence survivor, single mother of 4, and the founder and director of El-Roi Jireh. As a survivor, I faced many challenges, including 7 years of homelessness. I understand firsthand the struggle mothers to get back on our feet after escaping abuse with your children.

On February 1, 2017 - I received the horrible news that my little sister had been murdered by her boyfriend. She was the youngest of my 5 siblings, my best friend and a second mom to my 4 daughters. I was not only going through homelessness, but now a grief that almost killed me. I became very depressed, and even though I was able to finally get a stable home for my 4 kids and me in December 2017, the depression became crippling.

A voice inside me came to me saying: "Are you going to let him kill you too, or are you going to do something out of this?"

That is how El-Roi Jireh was created. "El-Roi" means "the God who sees me," and "Jireh" means "God my provider."

I remember how hard it was to buy clothes, shoes and basic needs for my girls. I remember I didn't know where to go or who to ask after losing my parents, and now my little sister, who had always been there for me. So I began asking my friends and family to donate to me gently used clothes, shoes, and household items for single moms who I knew were struggling like I once did.

Since then, I became a Domestic Violence Advocate and Counselor, a U.S. Federal Chaplain, and began providing direct assistance to survivors with resources, referrals, and even going to court with them to file restraining orders. Since 2019, El-Roi Jireh has supported countless families thanks to the generosity of our community.

Why We Are Fundraising

We usually hold yard sales to raise funds for our foundation - but after losing my vision three years ago, and having a stroke in December 2024, yard sales have become very challenging.

I am raising funds so we can:

- Rent a space to store donations (I don't have a garage or storage in my house)

- Buy storage bins, a computer, and other essentials to keep our work going

- Cover gas and transportation costs so I can continue to help survivors, since I cannot drive due to my blindness

Nuestra misión es sencilla: llevar esperanza, dignidad y estabilidad a las familias que están reconstruyendo sus vidas después del abuso. Mi Historia

Mi nombre es Ana Fuentes y soy sobreviviente de violencia doméstica, madre soltera de 4 hijos, y fundadora y directora de El-Roi Jireh.

Como sobreviviente, enfrenté muchos desafíos, incluyendo 7 años de vivir en situación de calle. Entiendo de primera mano la lucha que vivimos las madres para levantarnos después de escapar del abuso junto con nuestros hijos.

El 1 de febrero de 2017 recibí la horrible noticia de que mi hermana menor había sido asesinada por su novio. Ella era la más joven de mis 5 hermanos, mi mejor amiga y una segunda madre para mis 4 hijas. No solo estaba enfrentando la falta de vivienda, sino también un duelo que casi me mata. Me deprimí mucho, y aunque en diciembre de 2017 logré conseguir un hogar estable para mis 4 hijos y para mí, la depresión se volvió paralizante.

Una voz dentro de mí me dijo: “¿Vas a dejar que él también te mate a ti, o vas a hacer algo con esto?”

Así fue como nació El-Roi Jireh. “El-Roi” significa “El Dios que me ve”, y “Jireh” significa “Dios mi proveedor”.

Recuerdo lo difícil que era comprar ropa, zapatos y necesidades básicas para mis hijas, recuerdo que no sabía a dónde acudir ni a quién pedir ayuda tras haber perdido a mis padres y ahora también a mi hermana menor, quien siempre había estado para mí. Entonces comencé a pedirles a mis amigos y familiares que donaran ropa, zapatos y artículos para el hogar en buen estado para madres solteras que yo sabía estaban luchando, igual que yo en su momento.

Desde entonces, me convertí en Defensora y Consejera de Violencia Doméstica, en Capellán Federal en los Estados Unidos, y empecé a brindar asistencia directa a sobrevivientes con recursos, referencias e incluso acompañándolas a la corte para presentar órdenes de restricción. Desde 2019, El-Roi Jireh ha apoyado a innumerables familias gracias a la generosidad de nuestra comunidad.

Por Qué Estamos Recaudando Fondos

Normalmente realizamos ventas de garaje para recaudar fondos para nuestra fundación, pero después de perder mi visión hace tres años, y de haber sufrido un derrame cerebral en diciembre de 2024, estas ventas se han vuelto muy difíciles.

Estoy recaudando fondos para que podamos:

• Rentar un espacio donde almacenar donaciones (no cuento con garaje ni bodega en mi casa).

• Comprar contenedores de almacenamiento, una computadora y otros artículos esenciales para continuar con nuestro trabajo.

• Cubrir gastos de transporte y gasolina para poder seguir ayudando a las sobrevivientes, ya que no puedo conducir debido a mi ceguera.

Por favor, ayúdanos a llevar esperanza a más sobrevivientes.
