Hello. My name is Sherri Owen-Calaway. I am writing this on behalf of my cousin, David Hodges's wife, Elathia Hodges. In 2023, she was diagnosed with angiosarcoma, a rare and aggressive kind of cancer that forms in the lining of the blood vessels and lymphatic vessels. Elathia's started on her lower right leg. She has taken radiation therapy for brain cancer and has been taking chemotherapy since 2023. The angiosarcoma spread through her lungs and brain. However, chemotherapy has been working, as her last PET scan showed the cancer only in her leg. Currently, Elathia cannot walk due to the chemotherapy and will undergo a minor surgery this week.

The costs are mounting, as insurance co-pays alone are already well in excess of $10,000. In addition, a handicapped van was a necessity which added another $879 per month. Non-prescription medical supplies and necessities are adding up daily. All of these expenses have caused a detrimental hardship for the Hodges. They have been trying to handle this all on their own, but could use our help!
