My name is SSG (Ret) Marley, and as most have been made aware between last night and today, Edward Thrasher left us suddenly over the weekend. Thrasher was an M1 Armor Crewman while stationed in Baumholder, Germany with Comanche Company of the 1st Battalion 35th Armored Regiment. Edward served honorably in both garrison and combat. Edward and the 1-35 AR deployed in to Kuwait in 2005 and later took part in the Battle of Ramadi. Thrasher was loved by all with whom he served. His larger than life personality touched everyone who knew him. It was common to hear him yelling above the sound of formations, and would lift even the most demoralized soldiers spirits.
As of this time, it is unclear if Edward had any form of life insurance or assistance to help with burial. His mother passed away on the 7th, a day or 2 before his own passing. His father, whom I have not spoken with yet, is handling his arrangements to my knowledge. It is my intent to help raise funds for Edward’s burial and or services during these trying times for his family. If you feel so inclined, please donate to help his family through these trying moments. At the very least, share the link. I will update the page with service announcements as they become available.
Thrasher, you are and will be missed brother. Rest easy, and see you at the green.
