On the night of October 16, 2024, Eddie went to bed but just couldn't get comfortable. He was complaining of chest and back pains. He had just gone to the ER two weeks prior where they diagnosed him with pleurisy, so we thought maybe it had come back. The pain was so severe, and as a result, he went back to the ER. Needless to say, we were in shock when the results from the tests came back revealing he had cancer - specifically B-cell ALL (B-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia). He was transported downtown to the MD Anderson cancer unit at Baptist and began chemo treatments just a few days later. He spent a month in the hospital that first round and actually tolerated the treatments well. He got to come home for about a week and then went back for the next treatment. This time around was not so kind, and when he came home after a week, he was miserable - swollen, painful, and had lost all his hair. After being home for a couple of days, he started running a fever and ended up in the ER. Now he had pneumonia, so he was admitted once again for 10 days. They discharged him, but it was probably too soon. He was retaining fluid and still very painful and barely able to walk. Needless to say, he ended up in the ER again because of fluid complications and stayed in the hospital right up to New Year's Eve. They removed 40 lbs. of fluid from him this time. I won't even go into the horrors the fluid retention caused.

He went through another bone marrow biopsy last week and followed up with his physician yesterday. The results showed he is in REMISSION (Praise God). However, he will go back into the hospital next week for his next round of chemo at a 20% lower dose. He will have at least 6 more treatments before going to a pill maintenance.

Eddie has been out of work since October. His sweet wife, Rose, has been struggling daily to juggle all the responsibilities with Eddie and taking care of him while at home, taking care of her mom who requires a lot of care after suffering a stroke as well as trying to work full time herself.

We are raising funds to cover the extensive medical expenses and ongoing treatments for Eddie. Eddie, who has been diagnosed with B-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, has a long road ahead with multiple chemo treatments and hospital stays. Your support will help ease the financial burden and allow Eddie to focus on his recovery. Thank you for your generosity and prayers.
