The Kennedy family has been pillars in the community for the past few decades. Ashleigh is a former teacher, athletic trainer and coach; serves in multiple volunteer positions including team parent and member of the Monmouth Falcons executive board. Pat, a retired Red Bank police officer, served his family while wearing the blue for 29 years; and now volunteer coaches for the Monmouth Falcons youth football program.
They are constants in our community; and now it's time for the community to come to their aid.
Shortly after receiving the Covid-19 vaccine in August of 2021 Ashleigh started experiencing a gradual set of debilitating medical symptoms leading to a series of strokes and a search for answers. After almost two years of testing, she received her current diagnosis of Advanced Systemic Lupus Erythematosus; although some diagnoses are still being ruled out and treated.
Prior to her unfortunate onset of illness, Ashleigh was an extremely independent and active person. She was a passionate teacher, mentor and coach at Red Bank Catholic High School since 2007. She and her daughter, along with RBC students, founded the Red Bank Catholic Making Wishes Come True Club which annually raised tens of thousands of dollars annually to grant wishes for children with serious medical conditions.
She continues to serve the youth football community despite the fact her condition has recently taken a turn for the worse.
Ashleigh has been hospitalized twice this year and despite receiving physical therapy and infusions therapy she has lost the use of her legs and now needs a cane or wheelchair to achieve any sort of mobility.
Ashleigh has started a new aggressive intravenous treatment along with chemotherapy medication; which is physically and emotionally taxing on everyone in the household. Additionally, to help usher her to various doctors, treatments, therapies and chemotherapy, Pat retired early from the force.
Income is limited but the medical bills and day-to-day expenses continue to pile up. The family continues to file for help, but receives very limited answers and no aid. All avenues of assistance have been exhausted and now we’re asking the community that the Kennedys continuously serve, to help.
Pat and Ashleigh are raising three incredible humans: Kasey, who graduated from Monmouth Regional and will be attending Brookdale in the fall; Kollin, a rising freshman and member of the football team at Monmouth Regional; and Kane, a kindhearted third grader at who plays football for his dad on the Monmouth Falcons youth football team.
Your support will help reduce Ashleigh's mounting medical bills, cover the ever-rising cost of raising three kids, and give the family a chance to take a breath.
Please donate what you can - and share this to our Monmouth County family!
