Ease Saylah's Medical Journey

Donation protected
This is my granddaughter, Saylah Mae Mitchell, and she was born fighting a battle that no baby should ever have to fight - the inability to breathe freely.

Saylah will be 7 months old in just a few days. She is the sweetest, most adorable little human. She recently started sitting up, rolling over and is now starting to crawl. Watching her reach milestones has been the biggest joy of my life, but does come with a bit of heartache after her recent diagnosis, and requirement of oxygen use 100% of the time.

In May (under 3 months old), her parents decided to use their new Owlet sock to check her oxygen levels. Much to their surprise and dismay, her O2 stats were in the low 80s (if you're not familiar, anything below 88% oxygen saturation in infancy can be considered fatal). They rushed her to the Emergency Department in Mount Shasta, and she was ultimately life-flighted to Sacramento. Since then, life has been a roller coaster of emotions, testing, hospital stays, and frightening diagnosis.

After months of uncertainty and searching for answers, we have finally received a "working" diagnosis of Neuroendocrine Hyperplasia of Infancy (NEHI), a rare and poorly understood childhood lung disease. While we're grateful that NEHI is a condition that is believed she will outgrow, the journey ahead is long and costly. For several years, Saylah will require supplemental oxygen, ongoing monitoring, and medical care to manage her condition.

I have started this Go Fund Me account in hopes of easing the burden on her parents, Naomi and Jasper. They are a young, one income family who is traveling over 3 hours each way for her care. Over the next few years they will need to be at countless appointments and possibly hospital stays. As you know the normal cost of everyday living, such as rent, food, gas, car, etc are at an all time high, and the medical costs that aren't covered by insurance are astronomical.

This will enable Saylah's parents to be able to concentrate on her care and treatment plan.

From the bottom of my heart, I humbly ask that you share this link with your friends and family, and if possible in giving (any amount will help this young family).

We thank you for your support, and God bless each and everyone who took the time to read this.

Love, Jamma (Sarah)
