Update from Bobbie:

As many of you know, Rusty has been fighting a serious illness over the past couple of weeks and has been in intensive care. Our family has been overwhelmed by the love and support we’ve received during this time. Every prayer, visit, message, and word of encouragement has meant more than we can ever express. Thank you for standing with us, for lifting Rusty up, and for surrounding us with so much kindness.

This evening, Rusty met his heavenly reward and was welcomed into the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. While his healing didn’t come in the way we had all hoped, we know he is now whole, healthy, and at peace in Heaven.

We are heartbroken, but also comforted in knowing he is home. Please continue to keep our family in your prayers as we navigate the days ahead and hold tight to the memories and love he leaves behind.

Our dear brother in Christ, Rusty Penwell, has been in the hospital since last Saturday 10/11/25. Rusty is currently on a ventilator and very ill. As many of you know, he just started a new job that he loves but unfortunately, has not been there long enough to have full benefits. This means he does not have enough paid time off or FMLA to help cover the massive medical costs or loss of income.

Rusty is a member of Open Door church, where he faithfully serves week in and week out as the head of our Production team. If you know Rusty, then you know he has a heart for Jesus and a heart for people. We love him and know that this is our time to bless a brother who truly selflessly serves others, and loves doing it. Our goal is the ease the financial stress on his wife and him as they focus on his healing.
