UPDATE:
I had a successful Robotic Surgical Removal of my prostate on Monday 7/21, and am at home recovering.
Prognosis is very positive. Typical recovery time 3/4 weeks out of commission. It was a difficult, personal decision to have surgery vs radiation and hormonal therapy. You, your family and medical team can assist you.
I truly hope anyone in my network has to go through this.
My goals remain the same as listed below. I truly appreciate the overwhelming response to my fundme page and on social media.
I have been Diagnosed with Prostate Cancer. Cancer has touched so many families, including mine. Like many of us guys, I had not not been diligent in going to the Doctor until recently. Fortunately, my persistent Doctor convinced me to see a Urologist after consecutive high PSA level results.
Months of tests, poking, my diagnosis came in. After MANY questions and MUCH research, I have concluded with my Urologist that surgical removal is my best chance of a positive outcome. I will be laid up about 4 weeks as I recover, but I believe it gives me more options if my 'monster' returns. Monsters are indeed real.....
I have a couple things I am hoping to accomplish:
- Raise awareness and information of prostate cancer.
- Raise $ to assist with future out of pocket expenses
- Raise $ to fund cancer research and treatment options
- Inspire someone in my circle to go the doctor and get checked
It's difficult to admit you need help. I've been independent for so long.
I have been incredibly fortunate to have traveled and met so many amazing people and be part of an amazing network of friendship, love and caring. I look forward to many more years as your friend.
Thanks for reading!
