Donate to Ease Nasia's Recovery post Brain Surgery Struggles

This is my daughter, Nasia. Her entire life, she has always experienced strange random symptoms that were misdiagnosed as anemia or even anxiety.

In January this year, she developed stroke-like symptoms sending her to the ER. MRI revealed Chiari Malformation with a syrinx (polyp or pocket full of cerebral spinal fluid that collected from her cervical to thoracic spine (neck to chest)). She had to have urgent decompression craniotomy with cervical laminectomy. This was done at Staten Island University Hospital, North Shore.

Recovery was horrific with 10/10 headaches. Again, the neurosurgeon brushed her symptoms off and said she must have migraines. Their instructions were to go to pain management. They cleared her to relocate to a different state because they said their job was done and successful.

She continued to complain of headaches, memory loss, imbalance, loss of coordination and paresthesia with right sided weakness. She described her headaches as hearing a swooshing sound in her head with shooting pains that started at the base of her neck and shot up towards the top of her head and around to her ears. She also developed a boggy spot in the back of her head at the incision that felt like a collection of fluid. Just after Easter in April, she went to the ER in North Carolina with the worst headache of her life. Within two hours of being there she had already seen a neurosurgeon, had a lumbar drain placed, and surgery was scheduled for the next day. A large cerebral spinal fluid leak was identified on MRI. The surgical correction involved placing a patch over the dura of the brain where the leak was.

So here we are again recovering from another brain surgery with very strict post op instructions. The surgeons have put her out for at least three months and stated that stress can interfere with her recovery.

Nasia has been out of work since January and it’s becoming increasingly hard for her, as a single mother, to care for her three children and maintain the bills and even put food on the table.

As much as she doesn’t want to, she needs assistance to help lighten her financial burden as her savings has run dry. All funds raised will go her. Thank you in advance ♥️
