Support for Levi Teel and Family in his Fight Against Cancer
If you’ve worked in public safety communications any time in the last two decades in or near Springfield, Missouri, there’s a good chance you know the name Chris Teel. Chris is a beloved figure in the 911 community— a respected leader, tireless mentor, and fierce advocate for dispatchers. His contributions to the industry over more than 20 years have left an indelible mark, and those who’ve worked with him know just how deeply he cares for those around him.
Now, it’s our turn to show up for Chris and his family.
Chris’s son, Levi, was diagnosed with Ocular Melanoma in late 2024, requiring the removal of his left eye. Devastatingly, follow-up scans revealed metastatic cancer in his liver, which has continued to progress. All of Levi’s treatments are being administered at Barnes Jewish/Washington University Medical Center in St. Louis, requiring constant, costly travel and long stretches away from home.
Levi, who had worked as a school bus driver, was forced to step away from that role due to his vision loss. He now works as a bus aide, supporting disabled students— a job he loves, but one that comes with a significant reduction in pay. His wife, Tiffany, stays home to care for their three young children, ages 6, 3, and just 1 year old.
This is an unimaginably difficult time for the Teel family. As they face medical treatments, travel expenses, and the day-to-day challenges of raising three small children under the weight of this diagnosis, we are asking for your support.
If Chris has ever had your back, inspired your growth, or made you laugh during a long shift—now is the time to return the favor. Every dollar helps ease the burden and bring some hope to a family that has given so much to our profession and community.
Please consider donating and sharing this campaign. Let’s lift up a family that truly deserves it.
