Please help so Kelli can cover expenses, while she continues to fight against cancer.
Kelli was 37 when she was diagnosed with cancer for the first time in 2007. Within a 1-month period, she gave birth to her 4th child, moved to another state, and started radiation treatments for breast cancer. It was soon after she started treatments that I first met this courageous woman who was destined to become one of my best friends. After surgery and radiation treatments, she was declared “cancer free”.
In 2014, Kelli began to feel ill. Tired, depressed, and having night sweats, she wondered if it could be early menopause. She began having tests done to try to figure out what was going on. In the summer of 2014, she was told that she had an aggressive form of metastatic breast cancer. After much research on her part, CAM (Complementary and Alternative Medicine) treatments, more surgery, more radiation, infusions, and several different types of chemo; she is thankfully still with us. She is still fighting.
During this 10-year continuous battle, she has worked as a home health caregiver for the elderly and brought joy and quality of life to those individuals she has had the opportunity to care for. Most people would not know by looking at her that she is sick, nor would they know the pain and struggles she deals with daily. They see a woman who radiates kindness and is interested in you and how you are doing. Someone who brings a smile to your day and makes it a little bit brighter.
In May of 2024, Kelli had to quit working because of the toll the cancer has taken on her body as it continues to progress. The last two chemos the oncologist tried did not work. She has begun a new one that we pray will. She had enough money saved to be able to pay her living expenses through the end of July. She has applied for SSI but it will not kick in until December. The SSI will be a huge blessing, but things will still be tight.
This generous, compassionate, beautiful soul could use a little help right now. I am asking you, my friends, friends of friends, and anyone who sees this, to help if you can. Let’s help ease her burden the next few months so she doesn’t have to worry about expenses. It’s stressful enough dealing with everything this horrible disease and the chemo treatments throw at her. Anyone who has had or knows someone who has had cancer knows that insurance does not cover everything. Let’s give her this time to focus on living, on spending time with her kids, and enjoying as many moments as possible.
Whether you give $5.00, $100, or any other amount, it is so greatly appreciated.
ALL donations will go directly to Kelli.
Thank you so much for your generosity.
