Hi Friends,

As many of you already know, at the end of September I was diagnosed with Stage IIIC Inflammatory Breast Cancer. I have been asked by friends and family to set up an easy option for those who would like to help out to do so.

Right now, my biggest concern is the financial strain this will put on my family. Up until this, I have been the primary provider and will now have to take time off work to undergo treatments. A good portion of that time is likely to be un-paid.

I’m currently facing 5 months of Chemo starting on Nov. 6th, 2024. After this, I will undergo a bilateral mastectomy and then 5 more weeks of daily radiation to be followed by 5 more years of endocrine therapy. At this time, I am unsure when I will be well enough to return to work. Unfortunately, we live a couple thousand miles away from the nearest family members and are going to have to figure out how to manage my care and maintaining our life here without much outside help. Which means that the other income makers in the house will need to take time off occasionally to help get me to and from appointments and to take care of me afterwards. Honestly, it’s not the cancer that keeps me up at night as much as it is the burning question of how the hell are we going to make it without financial help. So as much as I find it embarrassing to need to, I have no choice but to reach out for help.

In addition to this GoFundMe, I will also be maintaining a CaringBridge page. On there you can find other ways to help as well as updates on my journey as they occur.

Here are the links.

  • At this time, I have decided to not have a dedicated meal train set up simply because it can be difficult to feed a house of vegans if you don’t already have experience doing that and I don’t want to stress anyone out trying to figure out what to do.
  • However, if you would still like to help with meals, gift cards to our favorite stores work well. We visit QFC, PCC, Whole Foods, Chef Store, Trader Joes and shop online at Amazon for our groceries.
  • Also gift cards for gas stations would be helpful since we will be traveling back and forth to Seattle quite a lot especially for the radiation portion of my treatments.

Also, just know that your presence and caring are enough. We don’t expect everyone to help financially but rather just to hold space, think of us occasionally and check in if you’d like. Love to you all.
