Hello family and friends! I am reaching out on behalf of my mother-in-law, Judy Kent. A lot of y’all might know her as Ms. Judy. She became ill on Christmas night 2024. She went to the ER here in Washington County, where she was told that she had a mass that was blocking her ureter and preventing it from draining into the bladder, which caused a severe infection in her right kidney. She was sent to Augusta University, where she was told that what started as cervical cancer has now progressed to stage 4 cancer that has metastasized to her liver, right lung, and obviously her right kidney. She has a nephrostomy that has been extremely difficult for her. She’s had to have it replaced multiple times during the last 5 months. She is on a chemotherapy regimen that consists of treatment every 3 weeks. She has to go for imaging, other testing, and office visits.
The first few months were not bad, and we are all very thankful for that. It has since gotten progressively worse as she is very weak and is having multiple other issues on top of what she’s already dealing with. She lives on a very limited income but too much to keep her from qualifying for Medicaid. As you all know, hospitals want co-pays these days. Cancer or no cancer, they have to make money to stay open. She pays what she can when she can. We are asking for any help that you all may be able to provide with allowing her to be able to afford co-pays, gas, food expenses, and with the summer coming up, she needs to be able to use her air conditioning without worrying about the cost being more than she can afford.
When I asked for permission to start this, she said, “I’m ok with it, but what I need most is prayer.” Please do what you can and know that it will be a blessing to her. You can reach out to her on Facebook; I’m sure she could use the encouragement. And as she asked, please remember her in prayer. As her family, we appreciate anything that you guys can do to help her! ♥️
