Hello,

My name is Bob O'Brien, I am John O'Briens brother. Currently John is struggling with an unknown ailment that has caused numerous hospital and emergency room visits since May 2024. Right now, the family would love any prayers and words of encouragement. Currently the family needs assistance with their monthly bills, along with any hospital and ER bills they will be receiving for his care. John has been out of work since this started and did not qualify for unemployment, and at this time there is no income coming into the household. Please see the timeline of events that has caused John to lose over 60 pounds within a 4-month period.

  • April: John started feeling ill and losing a lot of weight in a short amount of time. He noticed pain in his side when trying to eat and digest food.

  • May: His initial hospital visit occurred as he brought himself to the Mercy Hospital in Fridley, MN. He was in excruciating pain and was hoping for some relief. He stayed at the hospital for a total of 5 days, during his visit they ran numerous tests: EKG's, CT scans, MRI's. At that time, they thought this was due to severe constipation and was sent home with laxatives.

  • June: John was still in a lot of pain, especially after eating. This caused him to continue losing weight. He was schedule to have a colonoscopy which failed as he was too impacted. The very next day he was scheduled for another colonoscopy with dye in hopes to get more answers, unfortunately this one failed as well. Additional tests were run along with bloodwork with no answers as to why he was still in so much pain.

  • July: During the month of July, he had numerous appointments where doctors were looking for any Tumors, Blockages, etc. as to why he was still having abdominal pain while eating, and bowel issues. July 26th John was schedule for an MRI where no further answers to his condition.

  • August: August 12th John was brought to Fairview Medical Center in Wyoming, MN by ambulance. He was still in a lot of pain and couldn't stand to get up. While at the hospital they admitted him and then transferred him to Fairview Southdale. While at this hospital he had another CT scan where they found a collapsed artery that fed the blood to the Stomach and Pancreas. He had surgery to reopen the collapsed artery two days later on the 14th. John was released from the hospital two days after surgery on the 16th. By Monday morning 08/19 John was still in a great amount of pain. His wife Terri O'Brien brought him back to Southdale hospital where he has been ever since.
