My Unexpected Battle
Hi everyone, my name is Jody, and I am writing this today from a place of vulnerability I never expected. Just 6 months ago, my little family and I made the biggest move of our lives and moved from Pennsylvania to North Carolina. What we thought was going to be a smooth transition was nothing but short of that. My husband had difficulty landing a job, our daughter was in a very bad car accident where her car was totaled, and a few other curveballs were thrown our way. But the biggest of them all was when I was diagnosed with breast cancer just a few short months ago, and that’s when my life changed forever. Although it’s the best-case scenario for the worst news you could ever receive, it was still a shock to my core, shattering the plans my family and I had for the future.
For those who know me, you know I am a devoted mother, a dedicated manager with TSC, and more importantly, I am an independent woman who rarely asks for help. I love spending my time taking walks with my daughter and her fur babies and just cruising around with my husband to scope out the beautiful countryside of this crazy world we all live in.
My treatment plan has come to an end, but that just means the medical bills are going to start rolling in. My journey included:
2 mammograms
a biopsy
Savi Scout insertion
a lumpectomy
15 rounds of radiation therapy.
This journey was not just a physical and emotional battle; it is also a massive financial one. While I am fortunate to have insurance, the co-insurance, deductibles, and non-medical costs are quickly overwhelming.
My primary goal is to minimize stress so I can concentrate entirely on getting well. Every dollar raised will go directly toward expenses that have accumulated or are anticipated, allowing me to continue my recovery without the crippling worry of debt.
The fundraising goal of $10,000 will cover the following essential needs:
Medical co-insurance & deductible
Household needs
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking the time to read my story. If you are unable to donate, sharing my campaign with your network is an incredibly meaningful way to help me reach my goal.
Your support—whether through a donation, a share, or a prayer—gives me the strength I need to face the recovery ahead.
With deep gratitude,
Jody Strayer
