Help Ease Jen and Dan's Financial Burden

Last Friday evening, you arrive in London two days before running the London Marathon. Flights were a little touch and go, but you've arrived and all is well. Saturday, you make it to the show, where you pick up your bib for the big race - you're official, and ready to go. Then, you find yourself by your loved one's bedside in the hospital in a foreign country because they've had a heart attack.

This was a dear friend's experience this past week. Her update from today says, "The doctor said Dan had a small heart attack, but there was enough damage in three arteries to require the bypass. He also said stents in people with diabetes don’t work well. Yesterday’s test showed that there is no damage to the heart muscle itself, so the doctor seemed confident that the bypass would be successful.

They are planning to do the surgery Thursday or Friday. Dan is being moved to CCU today since he is experiencing uncontrolled angina. They will be able to monitor him better there.

If all goes well with the surgery, we should be able to fly home by early June."

All of this couldn't come at a worse time. Jen and her husband Dan, who had the heart attack, are being recalled to work in the office in DC, so they are being forced to leave sunny Florida. The move was set to happen in two weeks! Thankfully, Jen has been able to arrange to push the move back till the beginning of June, but with Dan's prognosis, that's still very close.

And all of this means on top of unexpected moving costs, the couple now has to face medical bills, as well as the costs of staying in a foreign country for a month.

Personally, I know what it's like to be worrying about money for stuff like this, when all you want to focus on is helping your loved one. And that's where y'all come in.

Jen and Dan have so much on their plates right now. Let's help lessen some of their worries. We're trying to raise as much as possible for Jen and Dan. We've set the goal for $10,000, but truly any amount you can contribute would be such a help. Donate whatever you can and know how grateful we all are to have such a wonderful community. And please share! The more eyes on this, the more we can raise. Thank you all, from the bottom of our hearts.
