I’m creating this GoFundMe for my friend, Emily — someone who means a lot to many people and shouldn’t have to fight this battle alone.

In August, Emily was diagnosed with clear cell sarcoma, a very rare and aggressive form of cancer. She’s only 21, and instead of focusing on being a graduate student, starting her career, and living her life the way she planned, she’s now juggling doctors appointments, scans, recovery days, and the emotional and physical exhaustion that comes with cancer.

If you know Emily, you know she’s the last person who would ever ask for help. She’s the one who shows up for others — as an advocate, a student, a volunteer, and a friend. Even during treatment, she’s still working toward her master’s degree and continuing the community work she cares deeply about. She’s resilient, strong, and full of determination, but no one should have to carry the weight of cancer and its financial burden alone.

The costs of treatment, transportation, reduced work hours, and basic living expenses are adding up quickly. As a student, she doesn’t have the resources or safety net to cover everything, and this diagnosis has already brought enough stress — financial fear shouldn’t be added to it.

This fundraiser is to help ease that burden so Emily can focus on healing, studying, and staying hopeful — not worrying about how she’s going to afford the next medical bill.
