Help Chris Heal: Support His Fight Against Stage 4 Throat Cancer

In early 2025, Chris's life changed forever.

What started as a sore throat and swollen lymph nodes turned into a frightening journey. After antibiotics failed, further testing and a CT scan uncovered abnormalities that led to a diagnosis at the Mayo Clinic: Stage 4 HPV-positive oropharyngeal (throat) cancer. Though advanced, the cancer was considered highly treatable—and Chris bravely committed to an aggressive treatment plan.

Over several grueling months, Chris endured multiple rounds of chemotherapy and seven weeks of daily radiation. These treatments took a harsh toll: he lost the ability to eat, taste, and even stay hydrated, ultimately requiring hospitalization and a nasal feeding tube just to survive.

Despite the pain and hardship, Chris never gave up—and it paid off. Post-treatment scans showed no evidence of the tumor. But the road to recovery has been long and difficult.

Today, Chris remains too weak to return to work and is still dependent on his feeding tube. His short-term disability income and union-provided health insurance are both set to expire in early August, placing a massive financial burden on the family. With Chris unable to work, the household is surviving on Shyla’s income alone, and it’s simply not enough to cover mounting medical expenses, bills, and basic living needs.
