Huge update 7/26/2025:
The bills are too much, and the effects of the treatment are not pleasant- to say the least.

Mom and dad want to enjoy the end of their love story.

We are looking at purchasing or borrowing a modified van/rv. Drivable- not towable.

If you have resources, please let me know. My parents have travelled their entire relationship, and sitting at home is not what they need right now. They want to see the beauty in this life, not the misery in illness.

In December, 2023, my dad- Barron, went to the ER for terrible chest pain, that he had thought was indigestion. During the evaluation, it was found that not only was he having a heart attack, but also a growth on his kidney. Obviously a heart attack is more critical than a kidney growth- so we prioritized.

At that time, my parents didn’t have insurance. They had owned their own business for years, and private plans were too expensive for them to get.

Since the heart attack, it has been extremely difficult for my parents to work. Between dads cardiology appointments, illnesses, injuries due to what we thought was blood thinner use, and my mom’s multiple medical issues- it is too much.

In April of this year, my dad qualified for Medicare. He also qualified for social security at this time. With these two resources in place, my parents began to form plans to check out the kidney “hitchhiker.” As we all know, the American Health system is known for rapid response to referrals.

Before they could meet with Nephrology, dad got sick. He was coughing a lot and complaining of increased pain. He went to the clinic to see if he had pneumonia.

The chest x ray obtained at the clinic appointment showed lesions on his lungs and ribs. A ct scan was ordered, and displayed lesions to lungs, ribs, and spine. A referral to oncology has been made.

With my parents being on a fixed income, I am asking for help. I want to see my parents live comfortably during this time. I don’t want them to go without, in order to save money for gas to go to appointments. I don’t want them to stress about their car payment, rent, or insurance. I just want them to be able to relax.

Any little bit helps!

Update: Dad has been seen by several specialists, the metastasis includes his skeletal system pretty extensively- including his hips, legs, spine, shoulder, and skull. Please continue to share, the bills are beginning to add up, as well as the trips to and from appointments.
