Donate to Ease Amara's Cancer Journey

Hello friends,

I am making this fundraiser to show love and support to my amazing sister Amara and her family, as she contines breast cancer treatment.

In late winter, Amara was diagnosed with breast cancer (invasive ductal carcinoma). And in March, she had a right Masectomy and lymph node biopsy.

Her final pathology showed stage 2 cancer (mucinous carcinomal) and since April she's been going through chemotherapy (she's had 4 out of 6 infusions), and immunotherapy.

Amara and her wonderful husband Jonny have three amazing kids all of whom are dealing with their own various health and mental health issues at the moment, which adds to the overall stress levels in day-to-day life. Managing appointments for kids with chronic illness on top of cancer treatment is a lot, and since I can't magically fix it for her, I'd like to offer some cushion for the road.

Amara works as a nurse at Children's Hospital in Seattle, where she cares for kids with cancer. Because of the nature of her work, she works long days and has to skip shifts to rest during chemo. I wanted to build this fundraiser to help fill in the gaps financially from missed shifts and to lighten the load of cancer treatment, which is already heavy on its own.

I love Amara and Jonny and the kids so much, they're far more private than me, so admittedly I pushed them a bit so she would let me offer support in this way. :)
