My name is Donnie Greenlee, and I am a father of three, and happily married for over 33 years. Six days before Christmas Eve, I began suffering from debilitating pain. I was admitted into the hospital.
I was diagnosed with a single-cell sarcoma cancerous tumor within my pelvis that had also wrapped around my arterial artery. Because it damaged the artery, I had a nine-hour surgery, but the pathology reports came back to show that it had not invaded my blood supply. The tumor itself was over 20 pounds, and it was removed cleanly from the envelope of the area.
The tumor did metastasize to at least four of my vertebrae, with only one of the vertebrae being damaged enough to cause me instability.
I have an incision that runs from my pubic bone almost all the way to my sternum. I am healing up from that very nicely. I have been completely off of all opioids for at least four days now. I don’t take the drugs unless I have to, and I don’t.
What I’m looking forward to is going home. To be able to go home, I have to have a remodeled bathroom so I can have a walk-in shower and a toilet that I can be able to utilize. Depending on how much is raised, we could possibly put in ramps at the front of the house or maybe even help with me being able to access the rear of the house.
Anyone who knows me knows what type of person I am, and I’ve always been a nice person to anyone that I’m around, no matter the race, religion, creed, or color.
My doctor says this is not a cure, but it’s as close as I’m gonna get. My family just needs a little help to make this happen. I have people in my life that can do the work. I just need to be able to pay for the remodeling.
I’m putting this together from a hospital bed here at Dallas Baylor Pickens building, room 510. If you do help me, I promise to put in all the work and not let any of your efforts down. I will get back to work with your help because I do work from home.
Thank you for listening, and please don’t take your good health for granted because you never know how good you have it until you’re without it.
