Please help Donna and Corey in their time of great need. About two months ago Donna went from being completely healthy and active to quickly losing mobility in her right leg and later arm also. Coming home from a MRI of her spine she fell getting into the house and broke her hip which needed emergency surgery, a week in the hospital and 8 days in acute rehab. After 2 weeks of physical therapy in their home her mobility got worse not better to the point of being in a wheelchair and needing help to do everything. A new spine and brain MRI revealed the cause of her mobility issues: a sizable malignant tumor. Within days Donna had a Craniotomy to remove the tumor in Philadelphia about an hour from their home. While most of the tumor was removed Donna lost the use of both her right arm and leg/foot. They are unsure if any of that will come back in time. Donna was transferred to an acute rehab in a hospital setting closer to home where she is now. Medicare gave her a discharge date for early April, right before her 70th birthday. Donna will start chemotherapy and radiation within the month in Philadelphia, proton radiation is Monday-Friday for 6 weeks.

One of the many challenges of this health crisis is that their 3 story home built in 1873 is not wheelchair accessible and there is no first floor bedroom or full bathroom. In order for Donna to be home they had to rent a hospital bed for the living room, purchase a recliner and a ramp. Most urgently we need to raise them funds for a wheelchair accessible van and accessible accommodations close to the hospital.

Here is a list of their needs which I will update as they change:
  • Healthcare co-pays and medical bills not covered by Medicare
  • Drug/medication co-pays
  • Physical/speech therapy not covered
  • Home health aides/caregivers
  • Durable Medical Equipment (assistance devices) not covered
  • Appropriate mechanized bed for home
  • Wheelchair van rental and/or purchase of a new vehicle that can accommodate a wheelchair
  • Transportation to and from Proton radiation treatments (M-F for 6 weeks) in Philadelphia
  • Hotel or other housing costs in Philadelphia, near the Perelman Center during the 6 weeks of specialized radiation treatment
  • Potential construction costs for home to be made wheelchair accessible.
  • Pet care for Tucker (beloved dog) and 3 cats
  • Unforeseen expenses

Please donate as much as you can. Thank you for helping two of the most special humans in their time of need ❤️

UPDATE: Today is Donna’s 70th Birthday, and we are more than halfway to our goal please help wish her a happy birthday by giving a gift of any size today thank you from the bottom of our hearts!!
