In January, DJ was diagnosed with FND - Functional Neurological Disorder.

We believe he has been living with this since 2022 when he was misdiagnosed with Vasovagal Syncope after a concussion during his basketball game. Unfortunately, this past December, his symptoms went into overdrive after a hard fall at recess and a severe knee injury.

As the days progress, he is gradually developing more intense symptoms - ranging from NES seizures, fatigue, memory issues, and partial paralysis in his legs at times.

Since December, we have seen numerous specialists and have had all sorts of tests done. Some episodes are very concerning where DJ has trouble breathing and we have been to the ER 5 times in the past 2 months. We believe this diagnosis is correct, but there is not a clear action plan from his current care team.

We have found a program that can help him through the process of moving into remission and getting back to his daily life. This program will guide him and us as his parents on how to best manage his symptoms and get back to everyday life.

Unfortunately, this program doesn't take insurance and with all of his medical bills, we are at a loss.

With the episodes, which DJ is having everyday, he cannot live his normal life. He currently cannot be without care and it’s disrupted our work situations as well.
