Help Denise Recover After a Stroke

Hi everyone,

We're reaching out to ask for support for our beloved Denise Spruiell-Gibson, a 59-year-old interpreter for the deaf from Hewitt, Texas, who recently suffered a serious stroke on August 31st. The stroke has affected her mobility and left her with no feeling on the left side of her body. She's been in and out of the hospital and rehab facilities since, and while she’s incredibly exhausted, she continues to push through with the same quiet strength she’s always shown others.

Denise is currently unable to work and is awaiting disability benefits, which can take time. In the meantime, she’s struggling with medical bills, daily living expenses, and household costs that are now going unmet.

If you know Denise, you know she’s a giver. As an interpreter for the deaf, she has dedicated her life to helping others communicate, connect, and be heard. Outside of work, she’s the person who shows up — whether it’s with a meal, a ride, a laugh, or a shoulder. She’s always been a caregiver to everyone around her.

Now it’s our turn to show up for her.

We’re hoping to raise $5,000 to help ease the financial burden so Denise can focus on what matters most right now: healing. These funds will go toward covering her ongoing medical needs, therapy, and the day-to-day costs that don’t pause when life throws you a curveball.

Denise isn’t the kind to ask for help — but as she’s joked herself, she could use a “leg up,” since one of hers isn’t working right now.
