My coworker, Deborah, has been caring for her sister, Missy, for about 6 years after having continuing respiratory problems related to Covid. She has been on oxygen and home bound the majority of this time and Within the last year spiraled down now needing a lung transplant. She was in a rehabilitation facility in Chattanooga for about 3 months but has now returned to Deborah’s home on a ventilator. She requires 24 hour care. Deborah is unable to work; therefore, in financial assistance providing for her family. Deborah is one of the hardest working people I know and basically giving up her life to care for her sister. Missy is still in and out of the hospital due to complications with her tracheostomy. This will continue as long as she is on the ventilator. Doctors say she will remain dependent on it indefinitely. If anyone is able to and feels led to help out it will be much appreciated. If anyone needs and deserves help, it is Deborah. Missy is supposed to be eligible for Medicare but it seems no progress is being made in this area. If anyone knows how to better navigate that system please contact us.
