Help Debbie Recover From a Stroke and Support Her Family

On Monday, October 13th, Debbie went to work as usual, even though she had a headache that morning. While at school, she suddenly became confused — she didn’t know where she was, and her speech became impaired. Her husband, Zane, was called immediately and rushed her to the doctor, who referred her straight to the ER.

Doctors confirmed that Debbie had suffered a stroke. She was admitted to the hospital, and the following day, as she tried to communicate, she experienced a seizure. An MRI was performed, and she was placed on anti-seizure medication and is now under constant monitoring.

To keep her safe, Debbie has to be tethered to her hospital bed to prevent her from pulling out her IV. It has now been over a week, and she is still unable to respond to commands, speak, or eat, and she struggles to recognize most people around her.

Her doctors have said that once she is stable enough, she will need to move to a rehabilitation center for continued care and recovery — a process that will take time, patience, and extensive therapy.

In the meantime, without Debbie’s income, her family is facing significant financial strain. Zane and the family are doing everything they can to stay strong, but the medical bills, living expenses, and lost wages are quickly adding up. Debbie has always stepped up to help others in need and now it’s time if possible for others to step up to help her. She is also raising a 17 year old autistic young man.
