Hello, my name is David, or as many know me, Sugarbear. As some of you know, and for those who don't, I have a heart disease called hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy, or HCM. Due to this, I have been on a special medication which has definitely helped allow me to be more active and feel like a much better me.
However, the medicine isn't a cure; it just eases the symptoms and allows me to be more active, but still, my actual condition becomes worse.
I am currently working with a cardiology surgeon to help me get the surgery I need to properly fix my heart. Some of you know I was supposed to do this a while ago, but due to finances, work, and other stressors, I just wasn't in good shape to actually get this done. I was finally doing well until I owed in taxes this year, which eliminated my savings.
Due to the healing process, I could be out of work for up to 8 weeks. I am working with my job for any help, but with bills and then the additional costs for the surgery and rehab, I just don't know what to do.
Unfortunately, I don't have the time to continue pushing the surgery off any longer, especially with my grandson turning 2 this year and my new granddaughter. I need to be healthy for my family, especially as it keeps growing.
I hate doing this, but I am asking for anyone who can help.
Surgery is scheduled for Tuesday, January 13th. One week or more in the hospital and then 7 weeks of follow up recovery. It will be a difficult time and hoping that I have enough to cover bills, but also the extra expenses while being able to really recover without any problems.
I am doing everything I can to be ready to face this hurdle, and I know with family, friends, and even the help of strangers, I can get past this. My goal is 7,000 which should cover everything and allow me to heal without any worries. I know its a lot and I hate asking, but got to be able to let my heart and everything heal properly.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. I really appreciate it as time is precious.
