Donate to Daniela and Gabriela's NICU Care

Hi everyone,
We are the parents of the beautiful baby girls Daniela and Gabriela. We have decided to start this page because our girls are currently in the NICU after being born at 25 weeks and 3 days ( 6 months!) and are expected to be there for a minimum of 4 months (most likely longer depending on how strong our girls are, and they are little warriors). Even with health insurance we are looking at an out of pocket cost on $20,000 in medical expenses.

Any help big or small is appreciated and very helpful in our situation.

Our story:
Last year we decided we wanted to have a baby and after months of trying around Christmas time, we found out we were expecting!! We were so excited about sharing the news with family and friends as a beautiful Christmas gift to us and to them. Until we found ourselves in the emergency room sadly losing our gift. It was a very difficult moment not only for me but for everyone. After, some time, and support from the family with much love we were able to heal and move forward.
Around May I find myself ENGAGED! My fiancé had planned a beautiful party to ask me to marry him. He had our family and friends there and I said “YES”.
We quickly began planning our dream wedding BUT wait shortly after (about a month) without looking for it we found out we are EXPECTING AGAIN. We found out we were not just expecting ONE miracle we were expecting TWO beautiful identical little girls. But that wasn’t the only surprise they were due on 02/17/2025 MY BIRTHDAY. What a beautiful gift from above. Couldn’t ask for any better gift from God.
As time progressed, we began to find out my pregnancy came with some surprises and complications. We had a Monochorionic pregnancy, meaning my baby girls shared a placenta, we found out at about 12 weeks. From there it was all an uphill battle of complications. Our little one named Gabriela was found to have a 2 vessel cord (simply put she only had one artery and one vein in her umbilical cord) this alone would not have been a concern but she also had IUGR (intra uterine growth restriction; she wasn't growing like her sister was) and she was considered to be "stuck" due to lack of amniotic fluid. Both of our girls developed TTTS (twin - to - twin transfusion syndrome, meaning one twin had low amniotic fluid and was giving all nutrients to the other causing overload for the other twin), in our case our little one Gabriela was considered the "donor" twin giving all her nutrients over to her sister Daniela causing Daniela to have an overload and putting strain on her heart. For this I underwent surgery in October (I was 21 weeks), according to the doctors "it was as successful as it could have been" in other words it didnt necessary work as they wanted. BUT during surgery they found that our little one again Gabriela was barely connected to my placenta which how the doctors explained it to me was "I dont know how she is still alive". Despite all of this our girls continued to grow! I had weekly checks and at 23 weeks pregnant I ended up hospitalized because of some changes in Gabriela's umbilical flow of nutrients, she went from intermittent to absent (meaning she was getting half of what she was supposed to be getting). Despite that while hospitalized they continued to GROW! Now at 25 weeks and 3 days (6 months and barely 2 weeks) my girls decided it was time to come meet us!

Today they are considered 27 weeks almost 7 moths and they are fighting and growing despite everything! God has protected them and helped them continue to fight!

Because of how young they were when they came they are in the NICU critical care being taken care of (in stable conditions). Doctors have informed us that they will be in the NICU until their estimated due date (and most likely past this time, over 4 months). Now they are receiving the best care possible and we have health insurance but because they will be in the hospital for so long and we have a high Deductible plan we are looking at a bill of around $20,000 in the end and that is why we are asking for help.
