Hi everyone,
This is not the story we expected to share but here we are. We are asking our family, friends, and our community to help support Dana and her family on their road of recovery. On April 29th Dana suffered a severe ruptured brain aneurysm. Fortunately, Travis was at home when it happened and they were able to get transported via ambulance to Mercy and then quickly to Abbott for emergency brain surgery. They were able to repair the ruptured blood vessel and save Dana's life. After surgery, the doctor said that only about 1% of aneurysms they treat are similar to Dana's and that often times, those patients don’t even make it to surgery.
Dana was in the ICU for 3 weeks and then transitioned rooms down the hall/out of ICU on May 19th. We are hopeful that she will be able to make the transition to home before long. She has proved to be an incredibly strong woman, taking each complication and setback with grace and determination to make a full recovery. She is making remarkable progress given her circumstances but she will have a long road ahead of her to regain all of her motor and cognitive function, as well as heal from the emotional trauma that she, Travis and the kids have experienced. The expenses are significant and there is no timeline for when Dana may be able to go back to work. Travis will also be dedicating most of his time to helping Dana in her transition and recovery at home as well as keeping the kids active in all their sports and other activities. It will be a challenge for them to earn an income needed to support the family.
We are grateful for any financial support you can provide to help give them the time and peace of mind they need to focus on Dana's recovery and healing the family. We thank each person who has checked in, prayed, visited Dana, helped with the boys, gave financially and with gifts. Let’s continue to rally around Dana and her family, lifting them up during this challenging time, and continue to pray for a complete recovery.
We appreciate all of you!
