We start by doing what’s necessary, then do what’s possible, and suddenly, we can do the impossible together.
Daisy is our neighborhood cat. She was part of the cat distribution system; she chose us. Daisy loves to climb trees, chase butterflies, and, most importantly, she loves people. Daisy walked to our doors only one year ago, so we estimate she is 2 - 3 years old.
On Feb 13, 2024, at 6 pm, we found her huddled under our car with a lot of blood. We rushed to the VEG MIAMI PET EMERGENCY AND URGENT CARE IN MIAMI (2707 Biscayne Blvd, Miami, FL 33137), where they provided her with the best possible care possible.
The ER doctors let us know that someone in our neighborhood must have shot her with a BB Gun due to the white mass (Metal Fragments) found in her leg.
They advised us to find an orthopedic surgeon who could help because, at that time, they could not assist her further due to the cost. It was estimated to cost upward of $5,000 to conduct the surgery. In the meantime, we took a loan so the doctors could remove the metal fragment.
Report from ER:
At this time, Daisy is in a cast and a cone. She is a fighter; the same way she'd climb trees and greet you at your door is the same energy she puts into her recovery. We have HOPE. She is currently under pain medications and antibiotics until we can find an orthopedic doctor who will let us know the final cost of surgery. Each visit will have X-ray treatment, sedation, and medication costs. Due to her wild animal behavior, the doctors have recommended to confined her space so she can recover and have recommended to keep her in a cage.
At this time:
- Under Surveillance 24/7 (Litokam)
- Has had a leg amputation due to her feral nature, surgeons have recommended this for her speedy recovery
- Medication Every 8Hrs for Pain
- Medication Every 12Hrs for Antibiotics
- Appointment Follow-up at the 14 day post operation
Please help us get Daisy what she needs to continue to fight. Why is it important to me?
At this time, our family is unable to provide the financial support.
According to the 2019-2020 APPA National Pet Owners Survey, 42.7% of Americans have a cat in the home. Unfortunately, not all cats receive the same loving environment. Some suffer the injustices of animal cruelty. According to the FBI, there were 1,126 animal cruelty cases reported to their system in 2016. Cats are estimated to be the second most common victim of animal cruelty after dogs.
People who commit intentional animal cruelty are not misinformed but are purposefully hurting a cat, which is often the result of violent tendencies. A cat is an easy victim for them to abuse because they can be trusting towards people, cannot speak up for themselves, and are living in many American homes.
During these hard times for me, witnessing Daisy's suffering, I ask you to perform one single act of kindness to counterbalance the cruelty inflicted upon her.
