Crystal & Brooklynn - a "Mother & Daughter story".
Crystal is a single mother of 3. At the end of August, Crystal suffered multiple brain hemorrhages following a ventricular shunt removal surgery. She spent a week in the ICU and has begun the long process of healing. Crystal is dealing with memory loss and other struggles related to her brain injury. Crystal has just begun to return to work on a very limited part-time basis as her recovery progresses. This kind of recovery can take a long time and patience.
Brooklynn is an outstanding 17-year-old. In 2023, she suffered a violent assault resulting in serious injury. Brooklynn is scheduled for surgery to repair damage from this attack. This assault has left her with debilitating pain, even affecting her ability to walk sometimes. In spite of her suffering, Brooklynn has maintained a great GPA in school and is even on track for graduating early. Brooklynn also works full-time as a waitress despite her pain. Brooklynn aspires to "move on" with her life and focus on healing and overcoming all the trauma she has gone through.
The Need:
Fortunately, Crystal has excellent private health insurance, which provides great relief financially. Crystal has exhausted her vacation and sick leave benefits from her job. While she is progressing and building up to returning to work full-time, there are a myriad of regular living expenses that need to be met. Additionally, Brooklynn's surgery will be in SLC, and there are expenses for travel, lodging, and food during Brooklynn's multi-day hospital stay. Brooklynn will be in recovery for 8 weeks after her surgery, and her earnings will also be severely curtailed during this time. We are asking for help to raise enough money to cover rent, fuel, food, and other living expenses. We appreciate any help we can get while they recover and return back to their regularly scheduled lives!
