Help support a student that needs to escape and start over

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Kathy, and I’m raising funds for a brave young woman I support who recently escaped an abusive and unsafe environment. She is in her early 20s and lives with a developmental disability. After years of instability and trauma, she is finally getting the chance to start over in her very first apartment—but she needs help to make it a safe and livable home.
She has overcome enormous challenges with courage and quiet strength. Now that she’s in a safe place, she is working hard to rebuild her life from the ground up. However, she left everything behind. She has no furniture, no bedding, no kitchen items, and very limited clothing. Her income is extremely limited, and she doesn’t have the support system that most of us take for granted.

We are seeking $2,500 to help her get the essential items she needs to live independently and with dignity.

Here's how the funds will be used:
First Month’s Rent & Security Deposit – $1,200
This covers safe housing in a modest shared apartment or student housing. Finding a secure place to live is the first and most urgent step.

Basic Furniture & Essentials – $400
Items like a bed, bedding, table, dishes, and other home necessities to create a functional and livable space.

Groceries & Toiletries (First 4 Weeks) – $300
Basic food and hygiene items to help stay healthy and focused on school during the transition.

Transportation & Moving Costs – $250
Includes rideshares, a moving van or truck rental, and public transportation for the first month.

Emergency Savings & Safety Buffer – $350
A small reserve to cover unexpected costs like medical needs, document fees, or temporary lodging during the move.

Why This Means So Much
This is more than a fundraiser—it’s a lifeline. With your support, she can leave behind a harmful situation and take first steps toward safety, stability, and self-reliance. Ellie's dream is to finish school, find peace, and eventually pay this kindness forward.

If you're unable to donate, sharing this campaign is just as meaningful.

Thank you for reading, caring, and standing beside me during this crucial turning point.

This young woman is taking a huge step forward in her life—something many never thought possible. Your kindness can help her start over with safety, hope, and dignity. Every donation—no matter how small—makes a difference.
If you're unable to give, please consider sharing this page to help us reach others who might be able to support her.
Thank you for your compassion and support. With deep gratitude,

— Kathy Causton
