Donate to Craig Mitchell's Journey to Healing

Donation protected
Our dear friend Craig Mitchell needs our help! Craig has recently started the long journey of a double hip replacement and is dealing with some medical conditions that are in the process of being remedied. There are some unknown roads that lie ahead, and his work as a gigging musician, singer, DJ and producer will be on hold for a while while he recovers, leaving him without the resources to fund these life changing procedures. That’s where we, his friends and family, come in to help him along his journey to recovery. Please consider a donation to help one of the most incredible humans on the planet. If you’ve enjoyed watching Craig perform over the years, now is the perfect time to show him your support!

cRAIG mITCHELL, a.k.a. oLIVER tWISTED, a founding member of the chart-topping production team The Orange Factory, fathered and cultivated the dance music scene in Burlington, Vermont, where he went to Saint Michael's College after moving from Saginaw Michigan...near the birthplace of techno, Detroit, Michigan.

With over 34 years behind the decks, cRAIG has served as a resident at New York City's legendary Tunnel and Limelight nightclubs and has played many of the country's most celebrated venues and club nights, while also doing his thing for international crowds in Canada, the Dominican Republic and Jamaica. He held residencies at Rise in Boston, Twist in Miami, Terminal, Quebec City, clubs in Texas, San Fran and more, but focuses on his several more open format weeklies now in Burlington, VT along with teaching,as these days as a break from travel and production.

cRAIG has shared the booth with such tastemakers as John Creamer, Peter Rauhofer, Honey Dijon and Tom Stephan (Superchumbo), amongst others. In 2009, he began touring as a duo with house dj legend, Manny Ward, under the moniker, Contorto. Contorto's debut single, “QUEENIE”, a cover of Ethyl Meatplow's industrial/club classic, features vocals by Alan T and released on cRAIG's Slanted Black Records imprint. Slanted Black released the single, “Don't Be Afraid” by Eddie The Gun, which is featured in the James Cameron produced film, Chain Letter. The video for "Don't Be Afraid" hit #1 on MTVmusic.com.

cRAIG's recorded works can be found on Global Underground, Transport, and various other compilations via releases on such labels as Twisted, Kult, Groovin', Kinetic and more, including chart-topping remixes with the Orange Factory for Yoko Ono. He helped form Yoko's label, Mind Train Records, and served as label manager and a&r for 3 years, which resulted in a Billboard #1 for “Walking On Thin Ice”. During his stint living in the NYC area, he worked for V2 Records and Kinetic (Warner Bros and BMG distributed labels). His latest productions/vocal performances include tracks with 1200 Warriors, G-Dubs, Stereo Soldiers, Manny Ward, Midnight Society along with a recent #1 techno release on Soundgroove Records. Whether as a producer or promoter he has worked with Moby, The White Stripes, The Black Crowes, also and SO many more. Yup, you're right...this guy has been BUSY!

Craig, for nearly 35 years in the Burlington area and beyond has expanded his scope to include his one man show, DO UNTO OTHERS, that toured all over New England with a focus on diversity, addiction, suicide and more...he is on the board of HOPE WORKS that deals with sexual violence and trafficking and is very close to his heart as a survivor himself. ALSO, he's on the board of Downtown Winooski where he and the others on the board work hard to keep the Brooklyn of Burlington thriving and growing with entertainment and inclusivity. As a member of the 1st support group meeting members of Outright VT in 1989, which makes safe spaces for LGBTIA+ youth,, he still works hard to bring light to what they do and support who they are as he credits them as saving his life.

One experience with cRAIG behind the tables and/or belting out one of his tracks LIVE, with his sometimes Prince tribute band, Purple or with San Mateo, a studio project started by Matt Burr of Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, while dancing continuously in the booth and spreading his ONE LOVE mantra through the music each night, and you'll understand why his shows are so well attended and received
