I am reaching out to share the story of the young Nielsen family and their beloved furry child, Ruger. Ruger, a five-year-old, sock-eating maniac, joined their family as their first child. A year after Ruger's arrival, they welcomed a furry sister, Nova. Fast forward to April 2023, their family grew further with the arrival of a human sister named Maelyn. To their surprise, they were blessed with another human sister, Macie in November 2024.
Unfortunately, Ruger has a habit of ingesting things that aren't always good for him. In May 2024, Ruger consumed a sock that resulted in a surgery costing over $8,000. One would think that after such an ordeal, his desire for stinky footwear would dissipate. However, just this past week, Ruger consumed another sock, leading to a surgery costing over $10,000. Thankfully, Ruger is now home and recovering. We all hope that he has learned his lesson and sticks to milk bones from now on.
As a fellow animal parent, I understand the difficulty of saying no to any procedure that would save our furry children. I have started this GoFundMe page in the hopes that we can come together and raise some money to help cover the cost of Ruger's astronomical surgery. Every little bit helps. If you are unable to donate, please keep Ruger in your prayers, as he still has some recovery to go through to get back to full health.
Thank you in advance for your prayers and any support you can provide to help the Nielsen family with this vet bill.
