Help Corry Recover From An Unexpected Emergency
Donation protected
Hi, this is Kim, Corry's wife. It is with the heaviest heart and my pride pushed away down deep that I make this account. I have seen and read hundreds of these stories, donated to a few and cried with many. I would have never ever, expected to be actually doing this. It just goes to show you how much can change in the blink of an eye, life is so very fragile.
Today, I come to ask for help. My sweet husband, Corry, was admitted to the hospital Thursday morning after going to the ER for severe abdominal pain that he has been fighting for several days. He had extreme inflammation and infection due to undiagnosed diverticulitis. This caused his bowel to rupture, causing a perforation. Corry's surgeon decided to treat him with "super" antibiotics, fluid and pain meds and re-evaluate Friday and see if there is any improvement. Sometimes a small perforation can start healing and closing without needing surgery.
Unfortunately, Corry started running a fever overnight and having out of control pain by early morning. The call was made that Corry needed emergency surgery to save his life. Surgery occurred within 2 hours to remove the "diseased" section of colon, repair any damage and place a colostomy. They found not one, but two perforations in his bowel and a very "sick" colon. Corry pulled through surgery and recovery like a champ. Corry has quite a road of recovery ahead of him. He will be hospitalized for the next 5-6 days, then will be home for 4 weeks. Probably light duty at first when returning to work, as Corry is a Commercial Concrete Foreman. He will be recovering from this for approximately 9 months. Learning to navigate the post-op challenges and this new way of living is overwhelming, but our first priority and focus.
Now some very real challenges and realities are upon us. This is where I am asking for your grace, kindness and help. Corry and I have been struggling financially since last year when I was forced to quit my job to care for Oliver, our very rambunctious 4 year old. Corry is the sole provider for our family financially. For several weeks before this unexpected event, things had gotten much, much tighter due to work, eliminating overtime, which equates to losing 1/3 of his income overnight. This after falling slightly behind, is causing a severe financial hardship. The reality: We have very little saved, besides 401k, our other resources have been depleted as we survived for the past year. To be blunt we are tapped out. We are and will be facing some very real consequences if we don't figure something out right now. That doesn't even start to cover any of the medical expenses (his health insurance sucks) and lost time at work. I was expecting to go back to work in September, when Oliver starts Pre-K. All I can do is continue to pursue local emergency resources, pray and put it in God's hands
Corry is the most hardworking, helpful, kind and giving man. He would do anything to help anyone in need. Right now he needs your help! Please if you can help financially, we would be so very grateful. If not, we totally understand how tight budgets are and getting by is hard for everyone right now. In addition, or as an alternate, please pray for Corry and our family. He is the most amazing man, Husband, Daddy, Son and Brother and Uncle Bunk not to mention a faithful friend to you all. As he would say he's a "Certified Chiller"!
Thank you, God Bless and Take Care❤️
