Our community is heartbroken over the tragic and unexpected loss of Ty David Freyer. Ty was a beloved son, brother, cousin, nephew, friend, and teammate, someone whose spirit left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
Ty lit up every room with his bright smile and easygoing charm. He was humble, fiercely loyal, and had a quiet strength that made people feel safe and seen. Whether he was cracking a joke, offering a hand, or pushing himself and his teammates on the field, Ty led with heart in everything he did.
Ty was a proud 2020 graduate of Cazenovia High School, where he shined as a standout athlete in football, basketball, and lacrosse. He brought unmatched heart, leadership, and determination to every game and every team he was part of.
After high school, Ty carried his sense of service into the U.S. Navy, serving honorably as a Gunner’s Mate. He later returned home to pursue a degree in Criminal Justice/Police Science at Onondaga Community College (OCC) a place that became very special to him.
At OCC, Ty found purpose, brotherhood, and joy as a member of the Men’s Lacrosse Team. The team, along with his coach, had an incredible impact on Ty during a pivotal chapter of his life. He gave everything he had on and off the field and in return, he found a family that meant the world to him.
We are launching this fundraiser in Ty’s honor to support the Onondaga Community College Men’s Lacrosse Team, a program that brought him so much pride and purpose. All proceeds will go directly to the team to help fund equipment, travel, and player support continuing the legacy of a young man who played with passion, humility, and loyalty.
Ty’s bright smile, quiet strength, and genuine kindness will never be forgotten. Whether he was wearing a team jersey or a Navy uniform, he lived a life rooted in grit, gratitude, and giving to others.
Thank you for helping us honor Ty in a way that would make him proud.
With heartfelt gratitude,
