My father, who has been coaching youth basketball for decades and inspiring young kids to reach for their dreams, was in a hit-and-run car accident a few years ago that left him with multiple injuries. As his work is physically demanding, he now needs a double hip replacement. During the recovery process, he will be unable to work.

My father is a survivor. In 2015, while I was a senior in high school, he was a victim of a terrible assault that left him with a traumatic brain injury and permanently disabled him. Still, his passion for basketball and his love for helping children accomplish their goals have fueled his drive to continue his work in the community.
