This fundraiser is in support of Charles (Chuck) Alexander and his wife Terri, who are in need of assistance due to unexpected and significant medical expenses related to Chuck’s current hospitalization.
Chuck was admitted to the hospital on November 10, 2025, with bilateral acute pneumonia. He continued to decline and was transferred to the ICU on November 12 due to decreased oxygen intake and kidney functions. Within the first 24 hours in the ICU, he was intubated and placed on dialysis to allow his body to rest and recover. He has been slowly improving and has been able to come off both machines, but is still in the ICU being closely monitored.
Chuck has a long recovery ahead of him, and costs are accumulating quickly due to the intensive nature of his care needs. In addition to the sickness, Chuck has had muscle atrophy and weight loss, leading to significant mobility challenges.
Prior to this hospitalization, Chuck has been fighting stage 4 liver disease since May 2024 and recovered from esophageal varices (ruptured veins of the esophagus) in relation to the disease. In October 2025, he was diagnosed with an intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer found within the liver). Chuck was in the process of getting a treatment plan started to include Y-90 ablation, chemotherapy, and evaluation for a liver transplant.
Chuck and Terri are asking for assistance as they are both disabled and already struggling to keep their household expenses covered on a fixed income. They do not qualify for Medicare assistance and have used all personal resources available to them. These funds provided will be used to cover his current ICU costs, as well as the continued inpatient care he will need, outpatient care (including doctor visits, testing, occupational and physical therapy, and mental health care), mobility devices, mobility modifications to access the home, transportation costs, and any other unforeseen costs related to his recovery. The goal is $50,000; however, the doctor has said costs may exceed this depending on how quickly he can recover.
Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated in this time of desperate need.
